It was easy for me to decide on a place to call “my favorite”.
Charleston, South Carolina is it.
I haven’t been to any place like it. Charleston
seems to hold a certain charm in the walls, cobblestones and colorful houses
that are the essence of the city. The warm atmosphere, weather and people
included, make Charleston feel like home.
Throughout Charleston you can find
hundreds of pineapple decals and ornaments. The pineapple has evolved to be a
symbol of hospitality so it’s no wonder that there is a huge fountain in the
shape of one in Charleston.

Oh my gosh, Annie, I did not know about pineapples and Charleston. I definitely approve of pineapples (yummmm!), and that fountain is weird and beautiful in its own way. Wonderful! Now I am thinking I want pineapple to be involved in my further food adventures today... I might need to go make myself a midafternoon smoothie!
ReplyDeleteSouth Carolina, meanwhile, is a part of the country abounding in folktales and legends, so if that is something you want to explore for this class, that would be great. One of the books I added to the Freebookapalooza Library for this class recently was folktales from the Sea Islands of SC; some great stuff there: Folklore of the Sea Islands, South Carolina. So many stories!
Meanwhile, your blog post looks great: text, image, link, everything, so you are good to go! I hope you will enjoy the blogging to come!
That is the prettiest fountain I have ever seen! How lucky you were to visit Charleston, SC. It’s so full of history and awe about it. I have never been before, but I always hold out hope that I will visit many different places including this one. What other places have you visited besides Charleston? Also, what was your favorite thing did you do when you visited Charleston?
